The Angelus Centre, Kent

Client: Our Lady of the Angels Church

Location: Erith, Kent

The new parish centre for the church of Our Lady of the Angels, in Erith, was built to the latest building and energy standards, to withstand hard use and be flexible enough to stage a variety of functions and events.  The main hall had to seat up to 150, with three meeting rooms, facilities for children's groups and a kitchen, bar and toilets

The new Angelus Centre is a timber frame structure with glulam laminated columns, curved beams and trusses, giving a vaulted roof style in the large function room.  There is a link to the main church building and the whole of the new building is externally faced with block and render; and the curved roof is finished with a GRP continuous roof covering.

Other key features include a canopy roof over the main entrance and high level glazing making maximum use of natural light within the building.
