The Country Café for The Lodge Trust

Client: The Lodge Trust

Location: Market Overton, Leicestershire

The Lodge Trust is a Christian charity providing support for adults with learning disabilities.  Based in open parkland, The Lodge Trust Country Park was opened in March 2008, providing accommodation, workshops and work programmes for its residents.  In addition holiday lodges, camping facilities and a café/shop were planned to provide work and training opportunities for the residents.

The café building, similar to the adjacent holiday lodges, was also manufactured by Pinelog.  Based on the Skyline range of Pinelodges and adapted to the Trust's requirement, it incorporates the latest energy-efficient features and materials to produce an environmentally friendly building with low long-term maintenance and running costs.

It is clad in Siberian larch sourced from sustainable forests, which is also very durable and requires minimal maintenance.

The café was built at Pinelog's factory and delivered in four pieces, being bolted together on site.  This form of volumetric off-site manufacturing provides an economical building with minimal disruption on site.  It was manufactured to meet Building Regulation standards and being lightweight, the only foundations required were a series of concrete raft footings.
